[origin: WO9015683A1] A hollow drill with a support tube (1) and a cutter ring (4) or cutter segments (3), preferably with diamond as the abrasive and a metal binder. Between the cutter ring (4) or segments (3) and the support tube (1) is fitted a steel ring (2) which is designed as a gauge ring of which at least a part of the height and circumference have the same outside diameter as the cutter ring (4) or the cutter ring defined by the cutter segments (3). The steel ring (2) is made of hardenable steel or a high-tensile alloy.
