[origin: EP0477491A2] In a yarn-tension regulation for yarns subjected to variations in tension and/or in speed, especially on a cross-wound spooling machine, having a tracer element held movably on a base part, acting as a sensor for the yarn tension and as a yarn-length compensator and possessing a prestressed helical spring counteracting the yarn tension, and having a yarn brake which is located in the yarn run in front of the tracer element and which is controlled via an electrical regulating device as a function of the position of the tracer element, the prestress of the helical spring (11) can be varied via a programmable adjusting device (12-20).
