[origin: EP0477703A1] In a gritting apparatus (3) for servicing roads in winter, which is mobile or mounted on a gritting vehicle (1), the gritting material is fed, proportional to the driving speed, in meterable amounts to a hydromotor-driven gritting element (7) which rotates about an essentially vertical axis, can be adjusted to different speeds of rotation and gritting widths and is adjustable transversely with respect to the driving direction (arrow 37) in relation to the central longitudinal axis (9) of the gritting apparatus (3) and/or of the gritting vehicle (1) by means of a remote-controlled adjustment drive (22) and whose operating position is indicated by a gritting pattern indicator (28). In order to be able to set the position of the gritting pattern (15) in a manner which is controlled and as precise as possible and to be able to read off this setting exactly, the gritting pattern display takes place by means of an electronic display device in such a way that, in addition to or instead of the set gritting width, in each case the widths of the two gritting pattern sections (15/1, 15/2) lying to the right and left of the central longitudinal axis (9) of the gritting vehicle (1) or of the gritting apparatus (3) are displayed. <IMAGE>
