[origin: WO9116143A1] A surface modified, U.V. stabilized translucent or opaque polyvinyl chloride resin article and process for making same is described. The article includes a colored pigment, and is characterized by the substantial absence of titanium dioxide therein. The modified surface is substantially free of residual stabilizer and solvent, and its appearance and degree of surface perfection is substantially the same as unmodified side of the article. The process of the invention is characterized by the steps of immersing the polyvinyl chloride article in a suitable liquid media, contacting with a solution of an ultraviolet light stabilizer in a suitable organic solvent, and displacing residual stabilizer and solvent in a nonevaporative environment, that is, without contacting the air.

On décrit un article translucide ou opaque en résine de chlorure de polyvinyle à surface modifiée et à stabilité UV, ainsi que son procédé de fabrication. L'article comprend un pigment coloré et est caractérisé en ce que ce dernier ne contient sensiblement pas de dioxyde de titane. La surface modifiée est sensiblement dépourvue de stabilisant et de solvant résiduels, et son aspect visuel ainsi que son degré de perfection superficielle sont sensiblement identiques à ceux de sa surface non modifiée. Ledit procédé est caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à immerger l'article en chlorure de polyvinyle dans un milieu liquide approprié, à le mettre en contact avec une solution d'un stabilisant UV dans un solvant organique approprié, et à déplacer le stabilisant et le solvant résiduels dans un environnement non évaporatif, c'est-à-dire sans contact avec l'air.
