[origin: EP0479040A2] The invention relates to a method for making copies of band-shaped documents for high quality requirements, a first copier being used in conjunction with a measuring system for the density values of the documents to produce first copies, which are checked and optimised if necessary by inputting correction values, information on the amounts of copying light applied being stored in a memory and used to produce further copies of these documents without using a measuring system. The document bands are provided before production of the first copies with an information carrying strip. Machine-readable address information is applied to this information carrying strip in a manner spatially assigned to the position of the documents on the band. The information on the optimised amounts of copying light is filed in a memory under address information assigned to the document, and read out of the memory once again for the purpose of producing further copies on the basis of the address information on the respective document. <IMAGE>
