[origin: EP0479088A1] In the high-pressure discharge lamp for lamp currents greater than 20 A, a cylindrical bulb neck (3, 4) is fused to the two ends of the rotationally symmetrical discharge space (2) which lie on the axis. Each bulb neck (3, 4) is assembled from at least two hollow-cylindrical quartz tubes which are pushed into one another and are fused to one another. Fused in between these tubes in a gastight manner are at least two elongated sealing foils (11 to 16), the ends of the sealing foils (11 to 16) on the discharge side in each case being electrically connected to the edge of a metal disc (7, 8), which edge is fused into the bulb neck (3, 4) close to the discharge space (2), and on which edge the free end of the respective electrode shaft is mounted. <IMAGE>
