[origin: EP0479693A1] The invention relates to methods and devices for public road lighting, comprising lights aiming the light beam created by a visible light or ultraviolet lamp along an approximately horizontal axis pointing towards the rear of travelling vehicles. One application is to the lighting of motorways, where the lighting devices are placed on the central reservation and direct their beam in the same direction as the traffic. <IMAGE>
