The surface, formed from strips (4, 5), exhibits grooves or channels (9) containing a gravel or glass filling (10). In this way, a highly resistant rebounding surface is formed and the reception of the cutting medium is facilitated. The device can be used both for dry-cutting and for cutting underwater. <IMAGE>
