[origin: EP0480285A2] Roller assembly for coating with a liquid coating agent a web-shaped or sheet-shaped material passing through it, a dipper roller being mounted above a trough and dipping into said trough and above said roller an application roller being mounted which rolls on said dipper roller and at least one counter roller which presses down the web of material to be coated onto the application roller being mounted above the application roller with variable spacing from the application roller. The counter roller (11) is a component of a counter roller set consisting of three rollers, two torsionally rigid pressing rollers (9, 10) being vertically movable above the counter roller (11) and being mounted so as to be adjustable with the desired pressure onto the application roller (8) and the counter roller (11) being constructed as a light-weight, less torsionally rigid roller with a diameter which is smaller in comparison with the pressing rollers (9, 10) and has an axle stub (14) at the two ends. <IMAGE>
