Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9117309A1] Devices for coating webs of paper or cardboard are known which comprise an applicator mechanism with a driven transfer roller over which part of the web passes for the application of an excess of coating material to the web, a roll squeegee rod with circumferential projections and recesses to even out the excess application and an air squeegee as the final metering device with a counter roller over which passes part of the web and a slot nozzle fitted in the zone of contact. In order to achieve higher production rates without a reduction in quality, the invention proposes the elastically applicable arrangement of the roll squeegee rod (7) on the roller (3), while the distance between the transfer roller (3) and the counter roller (9) is shorter than 1500 mm, and preferably less than 800 mm.
