[origin: EP0481178A1] A laundry drier has a heat exchanger block which serves as a condenser and is e.g. designed as a tube block and consists of versatile modular constructional units which together form a compact constructional unit which in turn can be positioned in a versatile manner and easily removably in the laundry drier. The compact constructional unit is for example inserted into the door, and on guiding through and cooling of the warm air conducted over the moist laundry the steam contained therein is condensed into water. The condenser is designed as a tube condenser and consists of plastic parts interconnected by insertion connections. In a preferred embodiment, the condenser consists of a flat, sleeve-shaped housing (15), the open sides of which are closed by a headpiece and a footpiece (20, 21), between which the tubes are arranged. This unit is mounted as a whole e.g. floating in the door. The laundry drier is formed particularly advantageously from the point of view of manufacturing technology and can be used in and removed from different drier types as a modular constructional unit in an advantageous and service-friendly manner. <IMAGE>
