[origin: EP0481191A1] The invention relates to a device for removing cigarettes from the enclosing package (Z). The device has at least one blade (5a,5b) which cuts open the package at right angles to the orientation of the cigarettes with a full cut, and a separating station (2) in which the cigarettes are separated from the cut-open package before a further processing. <??>The aim of the invention is to make it possible with a simple design to provide a reliable separation between the cigarettes on the one hand and the constituents of the package on the other hand without the risk of a comminution of the long-strand tobacco, which is particularly valuable for reuse. <??>For this purpose, the separating station has two mutually parallel compressing surfaces (15a,15b) which can be swung from an approximately horizontal into an inclined to vertical position. The spacing of the compressing surfaces (15a,15b) from one another is less than the width (B) of the package (Z) between its two narrow longitudinal sides (16) with which the package lies against the compressing surfaces (15a,15b) during the swinging operation. <IMAGE>
