[origin: EP0481324A1] To feed a production machine (18) with strip material (4) from a coil (2), a rotatable support (7), on which the coil rests with its axis (5) vertical, is driven by a motor (8). Since the circumference of the coil decreases as it is unwound, a sensor is provided in order to maintain a desired strip speed, the sensor controlling the drive (8) of the coil (2) to give a constant strip speed. <IMAGE>
