[origin: EP0482327A2] The invention relates to a sound damping device for a drive unit having a tool which is movable therein and a housing which encloses the drive unit with the exception of the tool passage opening and with the exception of the supply line lead-through openings, the drive unit being supported in the longitudinal and transverse direction inside the housing via guide elements. The invention is to provide a sound damping device which takes account of the relevant working and environmental regulations without using elastic and sound damping material in the housing interior. For this, it is proposed to make the housing (4) multi-shelled and to fill the interspace between two adjacent shells (8, 9) with a free-flowing deadening material (10) which is incompressible per se. <IMAGE>
