[origin: EP0482343A2] Process of finish-grinding rings on the outer surface or inner surface, especially for finish-grinding race rings of rolling bearings. A ring to be machined is accommodated by a work fixture with centring via a hydraulic centring means and is driven in a rotating manner by a driver. The ring surface to be machined is measured during a grinding operation. The grinding operation is regulated and/or controlled in accordance with the measured values from the measurement. A contactless measurement is carried out with at least two identical measuring heads from which a hydraulic measuring means corresponding to the centring means emerges from in each case at least one nozzle opening. The measuring heads are distributed over the periphery of the ring surface to be machined in an equidistant manner so as to provide compensation of the measuring force. The hydraulic measuring means is passed free of open jet into the measuring-means and centring-means layer which is carried along by the ring surface to be machined and which is formed between the measuring head and the ring surface.
