[origin: EP0482602A1] The baking oven has an oven muffle (3) which is surrounded by an oven housing (1) and can be closed by an oven door (11). On the upper door edge, there is provided an air outlet opening (21) in association with an air guide element arranged in the oven housing, for carrying off the air heated in the surroundings of the oven muffle or the heated air coming directly out of the oven muffle. In order to improve the carrying off of air from the oven housing and to make it effective even without a cooling air blower, an air collecting shell (22) is provided, which is directed downwards with its open shell side and faces the housing space and possibly a vapour outlet opening. <IMAGE>
