Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0483554A1] To minimise the NOx emissions during the combustion of fuel by means of water, without running the risk of instead obtaining increased CO emissions, the sensitive ignition zones of a burner (A) are penetrated by compact water jets (11) (solid jets) where freshly fed fuel/air mixture is continuously re-ignited, in such a way that these zones are not disturbed. This prevents instabilities, flame pulsations and/or poor burn-off, which are responsible for a rapid increase in the CO emissions during the combustion. In the interior of the flame, the water jets (11) then burst open, and the water is distributed where it has a direct counter-effect on the NOx emissions. <IMAGE>
