A heat exchanger having a tube plate made from plastic and a multiplicity of tubes extending in parallel whose ends are sealingly accommodated in the tube plate, has a plastic water box which is fastened in a liquid-tight fashion to the tube plate by means of friction welding. For this purpose, both the tube plate and the water box have a flat surface which serves the purpose of joining by friction welding. In order for the water box to be fastened reliably - but detachably in case of need - before the friction weld joint is produced, the water box or tube plate is provided with means for gripping an edge from behind in a form-fitting fashion, these means and the edge being operationally connected only until the friction weld joint is produced. <IMAGE>

Ein Wärmetauscher mit einem Rohrboden (4) aus Kunststoff und einer Vielzahl parallel verlaufender Rohre (1), deren Enden in dem Rohrboden (4) dichtend aufgenommen sind, besitzt einen Kunststoffwasserkasten (5), der mittels Reibschweißen auf dem Rohrboden (4) flüssigkeitsdicht befestigt ist. Hierzu weisen sowohl der Rohrboden (4) als auch der Wasserkasten (5) eine ebene Fläche (16,17) auf, die zur Reibschweißverbindung dient. Damit der Wasserkasten (5) vor der Herstellung der Reibschweißverbindung sicher - aber im Bedarfsfalle lösbar - befestigt ist, sind am Wasserkasten (5) oder Rohrboden (4) Mittel (13,13') zum formschlüssigen Hintergreifen einer Kante (19) vorgesehen, wobei diese Mittel (13,13') und die Kante (19) nur solange in Wirkverbindung stehen, bis die Reibschweißverbindung erzeugt ist. <IMAGE>
