[origin: EP0483641A2] The invention relates to a bending device (1) for sheet metal having at least one swivellable bending cheek (2) serving as a bending tool and having a clamping device (3) near to the bending zone, the swivelling movement of the bending cheek (2) being guided via guide segments (4) having circular arc-shaped contours. According to the invention, each guide segment (4) of the device (1) has a set of teeth which meshes with at least one driven gear wheel (9) provided on the bending cheek (2). The device (1) according to the invention can also be readily used with interlinked manufacturing equipment since the parts to be bent can also be fed to it parallel to the bending axis and thus without an additional means for cross transfer. With the aid of the device (1) according to the invention, it is possible to produce bent parts with any desired angles between 0 and 135 DEG in a very flexible manner and with great accuracy. <IMAGE>
