[origin: EP0483703A1] A chuck for tool inserts, particularly for screwdriver bits (11), possesses a base body (4) having a hexagon socket (8) for the hexagonal shank (10) of the screwdriver bit (11). Mounted rotatably on the base body (4) is a coupling sleeve (12) which carries a locking plate (14) projecting, in front of the front end of the base body (4), into the hexagon socket (8). The locking plate (14) possesses a central perforation (15), the outer profile of which corresponds to the cross-sectional profile of the hexagon socket (8). If the coupling sleeve (12) is turned relative to the base body (4) into a release position, the profile of the perforation of the locking plate (14) comes into coincidence with the cross-sectional profile of the hexagon socket (8), so that a screwdriver bit (11) can be inserted or removed. If the coupling sleeve (12) is turned, under the action of a spring (16), into a locking position, the locking plate (14) engages into a catch groove (26) of the shank (10) of the screwdriver bit (11) and holds the latter positively in the hexagon socket (8). <IMAGE>
