Method for sorting diamonds from a mixture containing, inter alia, diamonds to be recovered, in which method said mixture is brought to a detection system 7, said system is used to detect a diamond or diamonds to be recovered, and a device 8 for separating the diamond or diamonds to be recovered from the mixture is operated when a diamond or diamonds to be recovered has/have been detected, the method being characterised in that a diamond or diamonds to be recovered from the mixture is/are detected by emitting an acoustic wave or waves towards said mixture and by detecting a wave or waves reflected by said mixture.

Procédé de triage de diamants d'un mélange contenant entre autres des diamants à récupérer dans lequel on amène ledit mélange à un système de détection 7 on détecte par ledit système un ou des diamants à récupérer et on commande un dispositif de séparation 8 du ou des diamants à récupérer du mélange lorsqu'on a détecté un ou des diamants à récupérer, caractérisé en ce qu'on détecte un ou des diamants à récupérer du mélange en émettant une ou des ondes acoustiques vers ledit mélange et en captant une ou des ondes réfléchies par ledit mélange.
