[origin: EP0484611A1] Method for sorting diamonds from a mixture containing, inter alia, diamonds to be recovered, in which method said mixture is brought to a detection system 7, said system is used to detect a diamond or diamonds to be recovered, and a device 8 for separating the diamond or diamonds to be recovered from the mixture is operated when a diamond or diamonds to be recovered has/have been detected, the method being characterised in that a diamond or diamonds to be recovered from the mixture is/are detected by emitting an acoustic wave or waves towards said mixture and by detecting a wave or waves reflected by said mixture.
