The invention proposes a thermostatic valve (10) for controlling the temperature of the cooling liquid of an internal combustion engine, in which an adjustable supporting part (26) is provided as an abutment for the working plunger (14) of a thermostat based on an expanding material which actuates the valve disc (17). The supporting part (26) is arranged coaxially to the working piston (14) and connected to the latter and is acted upon in the opposite direction to the valve closing direction by means of a spring (35) and pressed into its initial position. The supporting part (26) is adjustable counter to the action of the spring (35) by means of an actuating member (36), in particular a thermostatic working element (37), this working element (37) being electrically heatable. By this means, the working range of the thermostatic valve (10) can be adjusted, for example to a higher opening temperature (winter operation). If the heating fails, the thermostatic valve (10) is adjusted automatically to the other working position by the spring (35) acting on the supporting part (26), resulting, for example, in a lower opening temperature. <IMAGE>
Abstract (de)
Es wird ein Thermostatventil (10) zur Regelung der Temperatur der Kühlflüssigkeit einer Brennkraftmaschine vorgeschlagen, bei dem als Widerlager für den Arbeitskolben (14) eines den Ventilteller (17) betätigenden Dehnstoffthermostats ein verstellbares Abstützteil (26) vorgesehen ist. Das Abstützteil (26) ist koaxial zum Arbeitskolben (14) angeordnet und mit letzterem verbunden und mittels einer Feder (35) gegensinnig zur Ventilschließrichtung beaufschlagt und in eine Ausgangsstellung gedrückt. Das Abstützteil (26) ist mittels eines Stellorgans (36), insbesondere thermostatischen Arbeitselements (37), gegen die Wirkung der Feder (35) verstellbar, wobei dieses Arbeitselement (37) elektrisch beheizbar ist. Dadurch ist eine Verstellung des Arbeitsbereiches des Thermostatventils (10) z.B. auf eine höhere Öffnungstemperatur möglich (Winterbetrieb). Bei Ausfall der Beheizung wird das Thermostatventil (10) durch die auf das Abstützteil (26) wirkende Feder (35) selbsttätig in die andere Arbeitsstellung verstellt, die z.B. eine niedrigere Öffnungstemperatur zur Folge hat. <IMAGE>
