[origin: EP0485791A1] A novel bottle crate is described which has at the sides (3) self-supporting carrying handles (9) which are formed by the gripping openings (8) leading in each case at one end up to the top edge of the crate. Both the self-supporting carrying handles (9) and the adjoining wall parts (6) are expediently formed from hollow profiles. Further hollow profiles (6, 11) form end-side carrying handles (10) and lead to the crate bottom (1, 2) so that, in total, a combination of hollow profiles allows high rigidity and strength with low weight. The self-supporting carrying handles (9) result in very good carrying convenience. Additionally, a further inside carrying handle (13) may be provided which connects the free ends of the self-supporting carrying handles (9) to one another. As a result, the strength is further increased and the crate can be carried without great inclination and thus with good clearance above the ground. <IMAGE>
