[origin: EP0485866A1] The invention relates to a pulsed switched mode power supply, using pulse-width modulation, for operating a discharge lamp (L) using a starting circuit (Z). In parallel with the capacitor (CA) on the output side, the switched mode power supply has an RC element (R, CR) which is used as a starting aid for the lamp (L).
