[origin: WO9102163A1] A fan has an electric motor (10) and at least one impeller wheel (18, 24) on the motor shaft (11), which is mounted in front of the electric motor (10) in a housing cap (16) with a central suction opening (17) and directs the intake air over the engine space (32) to outlet openings. To obtain a large delivery volume and quieter running, the impeller wheel (18, 24) consists of an impeller wheel disk (19, 25) secured to the motor shaft (11) so as to remain fixed during rotation, and blades (22, 22', 22') are uniformly distributed over the circumference on the side facing the intake side; the blades facing the intake side are enclosed by an impeller ring wheel (20, 26) which is flush with the outer circumference of the impeller wheel disk and the inner ends of the blades (22, 22', 22'); the impeller ring wheel (20, 26) has a central recess (33) the cross-section of which is essentially equal to that of the intake opening (17) of the housing cap (16); and the front faces of the blades (22, 22', 22') facing the circumference of the impeller wheel are concave.
