[origin: WO9101636A1] Cryopreservation of larvae of the phylum Mollusca (such as mussels and oysters) at, or beyond, the trocophore stage allows the larvae to be available, for example for bioassays and hatcheries, outside the breeding season. Cryopreservation is in an aqueous medium, which may contain sugars and/or a cryoprotectant such as DMSO and/or glycerol, and may be in contact with cholesterol.

La cryoconservation des larves du phylum Mollusca (par exemple les moules et les huîtres) au stade trochophore, ou au-delà de ce dernier, permet aux larves d'être disponibles, par exemple pour les bioessais ou pour l'incubation, en dehors de la période d'incubation. La cryoconservation s'effectue dans un milieu aqueux, lequel peut contenir des sucres et/ou un cryoprotecteur tel que le DMSO et/ou le glycérol, et peut être en contact avec du cholestérol.
