Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0486799A1] The invention relates to a method of folding a shirt, especially a men's shirt, for packing purposes, using a reinforcing layer (26) of cardboard or the like, the yokes (10, 11) of the shirt being turned over along mutually parallel fold lines (8, 9) onto the back of the shirt and the sleeves (3, 4) of the shirt being laid on the turned-over yokes, and the turned-over yokes then being attached to each other by means of a pushed-on clip (15) in the region of a lip (12) formed between them, whereupon a section (18) of the shirt which is remote from the collar (5), together with the turn-overs formed, is laid on the turned-over yokes along a fold line (19) extending transversely to the longitudinal extension of the shirt, and a push-in end (20) adjoining the section (18) is turned around the edges of the yokes and pushed between the yokes and the back of the shirt. In order to ensure that shirts made from soft shirting materials can also be packed for handling and transport with sufficient dimensional stability, a reinforcing layer (26) is buttoned onto the externally situated button tape (21) of the turned-over section (18), the outline of this reinforcing layer corresponding to the outline of the section (18). <IMAGE>
