[origin: EP0414217A1] The ignition distributor has a casing in which is rotatably arranged a rotor (4) having a first electrode (9) close to its axis of rotation (5) and a second electrode (10) at the end away from the axis of rotation, with an electric lead (11) interconnecting the two electrodes. The casing is closed off by a distributor cap (1) having on its inner side several fixed electrodes (3) distributed around the periphery and co-operating with the rotor and a central electrode (2) which ends at a short distance from the first electrode (9) of the rotor to form a spark gap. In the pair of electrodes formed by the first electrode (9) of the rotor and the central electrode (2), is formed a rod-like electrode (2), whereas the other electrode (9) does not surround the rod-like electrode (2) or does so over less than the entire periphery.
