[origin: EP0489186A1] In an awning arm consisting of two legs interconnected by means of a pivot joint defining a substantially vertical pivot axis, provision is made, to achieve optimisation of the press-out curve, for the pivot bearing axis (24) to be arranged between the inner and the outer leg (15 and 16 respectively) of the arm (9) offset outwards into the kink region in such a way that the pivot bearing axis (24) lies clearly outside the extension of the longitudinal side (25) of the inner leg (15), the transmission members for transmitting the spring pretension preferably being formed by two chains (29, 30) extending mutually parallel one above the other.
