[origin: WO9103279A1] The present invention relates to a safety helmet (11) capable of being used with or without a breathing apparatus. In one embodiment a "total" safety helmet (11) with a see-through aperture (12) includes quick-release devices arranged to selectively clamp one or the other of two rigid closed frame assemblies (27) within the helmet (11). Each of assemblies (27) includes a flexible annular seal (26) having one circumferential end secured to the frame (27) and the other end intended to contact the wearer's face. When one of said assemblies (27) is clamped in the helmet (11) the volume forward of the wearer's face is exposed to atmosphere through the open see-through aperture (12). When the other of said assemblies (27) is clamped in the helmet (11) a see-through panel (24) closes the aperture (12) through the helmet (11) and valves and air ducts, supported by said frame (27), supply breathable air to the volume defined within the annular seal (26).

Casque de protection (11) pouvant être utilisé avec ou sans appareil de respiration. Selon un mode de réalisation, un casque de protection "totale" (11) doté d'une ouverture transparente (12) comprend des dispositifs à déclenchements rapides agencés pour serrer sélectivement l'un ou l'autre de deux ensembles structurels (27) fermés rigides, se trouvant à l'intérieur dudit casque (11). Chacun des ensembles (27) comprend un joint d'étanchéité annulaire souple (26) dont une extrémité circonférentielle est fixée à la structure (27) et dont l'autre extrémité est destinée à venir en contact avec la face de l'utilisateur. Lorsqu'un desdits ensembles est serré dans ledit casque (11), le volume situé devant la face de l'utilisateur est exposé à l'atmosphère par l'intermédiaire de l'ouverture transparente ouverte (12). Lorsque l'autre ensemble (27) est serré dans ledit casque (11), un panneau transparent (24) ferme l'ouverture (12) se trouvant dans ledit casque (11) et des vannes ainsi que des conduits d'air supportés par ladite structure (27) acheminent de l'air respirable dans le volume défini à l'intérieur du joint d'étanchéité annulaire (26).
