Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0490066A2] The crimping tool for pressing wire end ferrules (13) has two jaws (1, 2), which are supported in a swivel bearing and can be swivelled about the swivel bearing, in particular via a drive (9) having two hand levers (11, 13). A spring jaw (8) is provided on each jaw (1, 2). The drive (9) engages at one end of the jaws (1, 2). Connected to the other ends of the jaws (1, 2) in each case is a pressure jaw (20, 21) which has a single pressing position (17) intended to cover a cross-sectional area in a universal manner. At least one of the jaws (1, 2) has two areas (7, 8) which act on the pressure jaws (20, 21) and of which one area (7) is constructed to be largely rigid, and the other area (8) is configured in a resiliently yielding fashion as a spring jaw. At least one of the pressure jaws (20, 21) is guided on one of the areas (7, 8) of the jaw in the direction of motion of the pressure jaws. A first stop (26) and mating stop (27) is provided between the pressure jaw (20, 21) and the resilient area (8) on the jaw (1, 2), and a second stop (28) and mating stop (29) are provided between the pressure jaw and the rigid area (8) of the jaw (1, 2). The distance between the two stops (26, 28) is dimensioned with respect to the distance between the two mating stops (27, 29) in such a way that, when crimping, in the essential cross-sectional area the first stop (26) and mating stop (27) are firstly in active abutment, and the second stop (28) and mating stop (29) do not come into active abutment until the area of the maximum cross-section. <IMAGE>
