Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0490252A2] The ignition device for a propellant charge (76) is provided with a housing delimiting a cavity, in which a piston is displaceably guided. Via a bore acting as a nozzle, the cavity is provided with a chamber, in which a sleeve body (62) is arranged, in which the propellant charge (76) is accommodated. The bottom wall (64) of the sleeve body (62) is provided with a bore (66) lying flush with the bore (42). On the inner surface of the bottom wall (64), there is situated an ignition plate (70) which is thinner in its central region than in the edge region. The central region of the ignition plate (70) is the mechanically thermally stressed region during compression, via which the ignition energy in the form of hot compressed air from the compression space is supplied to the ignition plate (70). <IMAGE>
