[origin: EP0490287A2] A description is given of an earthing lock washer for electrically connecting a fastening clamp consisting of metal or a closure casing of closure bolts or casement fasteners or the like to the metallic fastening wall, such as a switchgear cabinet door 14, the lock washer (40) having a preferably annular clamping area (42), which when the closure is assembled comes to lie between a metallically bright or electrically conductive closure fastening surface, such as fastening clamp surface (46), and the fastening wall surface (48) and comes under clamping action due to fastening means, such as a sleeve nut (30), and where extending away from the clamping area (42) is a projection (50) which is bent in the direction towards the wall surface (48) such that edges or tips (52) of the projection bear firstly at an angle when the fastening means are tightened against the wall surface (48) and flattened off partially with further tightening and the edges or tips are displaced a little along the wall surface, and thus produce the earthing contact. <IMAGE>
