[origin: EP0491215A1] The invention relates to a deflection unit for a cathode ray tube which has a tube bulb consisting of a cylindrical tube neck and a part which expands towards the front like a funnel, the shape of the deflection unit corresponding to that of the tube bulb (RK). By means of the new deflection unit, good imaging clarity of an image is achieved on a monitor in that there is arranged within the deflection unit a cylindrical plastic body (KK) which has webs (ST) of soft-magnetic material aligned parallel to the cylinder axis.
