[origin: EP0492141A2] A description is given of a driving device for a fan which cools a coolant of an internal combustion engine driving a vehicle. This driving device has a planetary gear set, to the outer sun gear of which the fan is connected in torsionally rigid fashion. In order to be able to achieve a further improvement to the cooling capacity in a simple and, in particular, space-saving way, it is proposed, in addition, to use the outer sun gear to drive a further coolant pump arranged in the coolant circuit of the internal combustion engine. <IMAGE>
