[origin: EP0492336A2] An arc chamber, especially for an electrical line protection circuit breaker, has two arc splitter rails (15, 18) which are used for guiding an arc (22) which occurs at a contact point (10) when a switching event occurs into an arc extinguishing laminate stack (16). In order to improve the current-limiting capability and the dielectric strength of the installation apparatus, at least one of the arc splitter rails (40, 32) is separated so that, when the arc is burning in the arc extinguishing laminate stack, a further partial arc (41, 36) is drawn between the edges of the gap (40, 32). <IMAGE>
