[origin: EP0492353A1] The opening device for a window, door or the like has an opening arm (1) with a reinforcing piece (16) which is arranged on its underside (15) and which itself carries an axle pin (23) passing through and engaging with its head (24) behind an angle piece (4) of the pivot bearing located on the fixed frame. After an axial displacement between the angle piece (4) and opening arm (1), the opening arm (1) is rotatable through 180 DEG relative to the angle piece (4) for either left-hand or right-hand use. So that a higher load-bearing capacity is obtained, without an increase in the constructional height, arranged on the angle piece (4) is a flange (11) which extends essentially parallel to the narrow side (12) of the opening arm (1) and of which the nose (13), in the fixed rotary end positions, is mounted so as to be guided between the opening arm (1) and a respective web (20) of the reinforcing piece (16). The axle pin (23) can be a screw screwed into the reinforcing piece (16) for adjusting the effective spacing between the opening arm (1) and angle piece (4) without impairing the right-hand/left-hand change-over capacity. <IMAGE>
