A process is proposed for totally or partially coating with a gold layer from an organo-metallic compound applied to a substrate by irradiation with UV light of a defined wavelength which brings about a photolytic cleavage of the organo-metallic compound. In particular, tetrachloroauric(III) acid trihydrate dissolved in diethyl ether or alcohol is applied to a substrate as a film and, after drying, this solution film is irradiated with UV light of an incoherent Xenon excimer UV source having a wavelength of 172 nm, resulting in the deposition of a gold layer. Fine structures can be obtained by forming images with masks. The gold layer deposited can then be electrolessly metallised, for example copper-plated. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von ganzflächigen oder partiellen Goldschichten aus einer auf einem Substrat aufgetragenen metallorganischen Verbindung durch Bestrahlung mit UV-Licht einer definierten Wellenlänge vorgeschlagen, wodurch eine photolytische Spaltung der metallorganischen Verbindung bewirkt wird. Im einzelnen wird Tetrachlorogold(III)säure-Trihydrat gelöst in Diethyläther oder in Alkohol als Film auf ein Substrat aufgetragen und dieser Lösungsfilm wird nach Trocknung mit UV-Licht einer inkohärenten Xenon-Excimer-UV-Quelle mit der Wellenlänge 172 nm bestrahlt, wodurch eine Goldschicht abgeschieden wird. Durch Abbildung von Masken lassen sich feine Strukturen realisieren. Die abgeschiedene Goldschicht kann anschließend stromlos metallisiert, z.B. verkupfert werden. <IMAGE>
