Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0494559A1] The lid which is adapted for making a sealed container between itself and an article capable of supporting or of containing the product to be conserved has a free peripheral edge and comprises means (V) which make it possible to create a reduced pressure in the container. The lid, whose inner face comprises a layer of sealing material (2) of suitable geometry forming a cover zone, may be temporarily joined to the article by simple placing, in an uninterrupted contact zone, with continuous interposition of said layer of sealing material, and by means of creating the said reduced pressure in the space thus delimited between itself and the said article, the said cover zone being such that it extends over at least 2 mm of one side of the central line of the contact zone between the said lid and the said article and over at least 4 mm of the other side of the said central line. <IMAGE>
