[origin: WO9102760A1] Disclosed is a process for preparing substantially non-crosslinked ethylene methylacrylate copolymers grafted with a grafting agent such as maleic anhydride. In particular, in the process of the present invention, it has been found that the use of very small amounts, i.e., less than about 0.2 weight percent, of a free-radical initiator in combination with the grafting agent and the ethylene methylacrylate copolymer, but in the absence of solvent, results in a grafted product having little or no crosslinked component. The grafted copolymers have utility in food packaging.

On décrit un procédé de préparation de copolymères de méthylacrylate d'éthylène sensiblement non réticulés greffés avec un agent de greffage tel que l'anhydride maléique. Dans le procédé il a notamment été trouvé que l'utilisation de très faibles quantités, c'est-à-dire de quantités inférieures à environ 0,2 % en poids, d'un initiateur radicalaire associé à l'agent de greffage et au copolymère de méthylacrylate d'éthylène, mais en l'absence d'un solvant, a pour résultat un produit greffé qui possède peu ou pas d'éléments réticulés. Les copolymères greffés sont utiles à l'emballage de denrées alimentaires.
