[origin: WO9202159A1] Proposed is an electric toothbrush with a handle designed as a housing to accommodate the drive motor, switch elements and an electrical power supply. The drive motor drives through gearing to move a drive shaft in the longitudinal direction and/or to rotate the drive shaft through an arc, the drive shaft being coupled to a brush head. In order to be able to detect the maximum brush-head pressing force which will exclude injuries, the handle is designed in two sections (1, 9) hinged to each other. One (9) of the sections accommodates the brush-head (11) drive shaft (10) and can be pivoted relative to the longitudinal axis of the other section (1), against the bias of a spring (18), between two positions, and actuates, directly or indirectly, a switch contact (14) located in the electrical circuit of an optical and/or acoustic indicator (19), in such a way that the switch contact opens when the handle section (9) is in one position and closes when it is in the other.

Une brosse à dents électrique comprend un manche qui forme un logement pour le moteur d'entraînement, pour des éléments commutateurs et pour une source d'énergie électrique. Le moteur d'entraînement déplace longitudinalement et/ou fait tourner partiellement au moyen d'un engrenage un arbre d'entraînement du corps de la brosse susceptible d'être couplé à l'arbre d'entraînement. Afin de détecter des forces de sollicitation du corps de la brosse qui excluent toute lésion, le logement est formé de deux sections (1, 9) mutuellement reliées par une articulation. La première section (9) du logement guide l'arbre d'entraînement (10) du corps (11) de la brosse, est pivotant entre deux positions terminales par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de l'autre section (1) du logement, contre la force d'un ressort (18), et actionne directement ou indirectement un élément (14) de contact d'un commutateur agencé dans le circuit d'un indicateur (19) optique et/ou acoustique, de manière à ouvrir celui-ci dans une position terminale et à le fermer dans la position déployée ou vice-versa.
