[origin: WO9106196A1] A microwave container for heating food in a microwave oven is made of an electrically conductive material, in particular aluminium. The container has a lid (2) made of an electrically non-conductive material, such as plastic or the like, which is secured to, and extends laterally beyond, the upper rim (4) of the container. According to the invention, only parts of the lid (2) extend laterally beyond the rim (4) of the container. The intermediate sections of the edge of the lid interlock with the container. If the microwave container is an essentially rectangular parallelepiped, the lid extends advantageously beyond the corner regions (8) of the container.
