Described is a multistep process for the liquid phase ammoximation of carbonyl compounds with H2O2 and NH3 at 60 to 100 DEG C and 1.5 to 5 bar and in the presence of a catalyst based on silicon, titanium and oxygen, wherein: a) in one or more initial steps, the molar ratio H2O2 : carbonyl compound ranges from 0.9 to 1.15 and the carbonyl compound conversion is carried out up to at least 95%; b) in a final (exhaustion) step the molar ratio H2O2 : carbonyl compound ranges from 1.5 to 3.0. s
