Vapour-cooled internal combustion engine (21), in which a cooling system (3) through which a liquid coolant can flow and which can be pressurised is connected to a compensation reservoir (1) and a radiator. The compensation reservoir (1) is connected by means of a connecting line (2) to a zone of the cooling system (3) which is constantly filled with liquid coolant during operation of the internal combustion engine (21). The compensation reservoir (1) is assigned at least one relatively movable, liquid-tight partition wall (4), which subdivides the compensation reservoir (1) into a space (5) containing liquid coolant and a spring space (6). <IMAGE>

Verdampfungsgekühlte Verbrennungskraftmaschine (21), bei der ein von einem flüssigen Kühlmittel durchströmbares, druckbeaufschlagbares Kühlsystem (3) mit einem Ausgleichsbehälter (1) und einem Kühler verbunden ist. Der Ausgleichsbehälter (1) ist mittels einer Verbindungsleitung (2) an eine während des Betriebes der Verbrennungskraftmaschine (21) stets mit flüssigem Kühlmittel gefüllten Zone des Kühlsystems (3) angeschlossen. Dem Ausgleichsbehälter (1) ist zumindest eine relativ bewegliche, flüssigkeitsdichte Trennwand (4) zugeordnet, die den Ausgleichsbehälter (1) in einen flüssiges Kühlmittel enthaltenden Raum (5) und einen Federraum (6) unterteilt. <IMAGE>
