[origin: EP0497105A1] Unwinding devices for reels (21) are known, having two posts (1, 2) disposed at a distance from each other, in each of which a clamping head (18), which can be retracted into the sleeve of the reel (21), is mounted so as to be rotatable. In order to raise the reels (21), the clamping heads (18) can be vertically moved by means of a lifting drive (23, 24). <??>According to the invention a bearing housing (16) is mounted in each of the posts (1, 2), which are movable transversely to the direction of web travel, so that said bearing housing can be raised and lowered, and on which is attached a clamping head (18). The lift drive (piston-cylinder unit 23, 24) acts on the bearing housing (16) symmetrically to the vertical (29) through the axis of rotation (22) of the clamping head (18). This avoids torques around an axis parallel to the axis of rotation (22) thus permitting a simplification of the design. <IMAGE>
