[origin: EP0497113A1] A heat exchanger for hot water production with oil or gas burners is described, in which pipe layers (13, 14) which are coiled conically in a two-layered manner are provided in a horizontal arrangement and in this connection the flame cone is introduced into the pipe-layer region from one side of the heat exchanger. In order to achieve a considerably longer service life of the heat exchanger with a higher degree of efficiency, it is envisaged that the connection between the inner pipe coil (13) and the outer pipe coil (14) is made via a plate (18) of worm-type design which has in the centre a through-bore, via which the inner pipe coil (13) is connected to the outer pipe coil (14) in a liquid-tight manner. <IMAGE>
