[origin: EP0497126A1] A circuit in which the cathode tube is connected at one end to the negative terminal of the current source and the other end of the cathode tube is connected via a power switching element to an anode inside the vacuum chamber. The anode makes contact with the positive terminal of the current source. An ammeter is arranged in each case between the cathode tube and power switching element as well as between the anode and the positive terminal of the current source, the outputs of which ammeters are connected to the inputs of a subtracting element. The output of the subtracting element controls a switching unit for opening the power switch. <IMAGE>
