[origin: EP0497184A1] A perming agent is initially applied to the hair, and the hair is then set in a treatment shape. The treatment shape is such that the hair is uniformly exposed to a subsequent aeration by hot air from the region of the hair ends to the hairline. In order to produce, for example, a permanent wave the hair is curled up to a hollow cylindrical treatment shape, so that the inner jacket and the outer jacket of the hollow cylinder are both exposed. After the hot air treatment the perming agent is rinsed out and the hair is released in order to assume the final shape. The method permits quick, simple and gentle treatment of hair and allows production of much larger curls than have been possible hitherto.
