[origin: EP0498068A1] The invention relates to a folding apparatus of a printing machine, in which the folded articles are transported using transport means, belt rollers and belts. According to the invention a fast-running first belt arrangement (28, 29) consisting of upper belts (28) and lower belts (29) is provided, between which the folded article is transported, and a belt roller arrangement (37, 38), which can be driven with variable speed, consisting of upper belt rollers (37) and lower belt rollers (38), which grip the folded article supplied onto the first belt arrangement (28, 29) at its front edge and transport it further, and a slow-running second belt arrangement (30, 31) consisting of upper belts (30) and lower belts (31), which grip the folded article supplied from the belt rollers at its front edge and transport it further. <IMAGE>
